An analysis on the research trends of senior citizens’ career trends

Abstract

|
Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate trends in the on senior citizens’ job career in Korea.
Methods : We analyzed 14 papers published in journals from 2003 to 2014. We used the keywords “elderly” and, “job career” to select the papers. We reviewed the subjects, purposes, and keywords in each article and then systematically reviewed the articles using PICO and literatures on the analysis of trends.
Results : We found that research on the work habits of the elderly has steadily continued. Elderly people over 60 years of age are the largest proportion of research subjects.
Conclusion : The most common variable in studies is whether the elderly have jobs. The researchers agreed in their emphasis that it is important to work to improve the health and quality of life of the elderly, but there is a lack of governmental support for the work of the elderly. Future studies should expand on systematic vocational programs and social support for the elderly. Meanwhile, this study serves a cornerstone for further studies about work of the elderly which is accomplished continuously from now on.
